World population day

World Population Day- Challenges of Urban Development, IIPS 11 of July.

During this interesting day we heard Mr Das, an architect and ngo-worker telling us how Mumbai is being underdeveloped, through the policies the government is making. By forced displacements of illegal staying (poor migrants coming from the rural areas) and continuously lacking of planning, the government has laid the foundation for a real estate agenda, where the focus is on making expensive housing for the rich… on the grounds where the poor are staying… which leads us to the new policy for transferring Asias largest slum Darhavi to a decent living area.
The problem is that the new area is only planned for people living in Darhavi since twelve years, if you came one year ago, six year ago or even eleven year ago, you are most likely to face a forced displacement.
